They are very good swimmers, their paws are slightly webbed helping them paddle. Their fur coat is insulated and it covers a warming layer of fat. Their white coat also doubles as camouflage, even though under their fur their skin is black (this helps them soak in the sun’s rays). They do not have any enemies, due to their size. They create their dens by digging deep into snowdrifts, they provide insulation and protection from the elements. These dens also provide a place for the females to give birth to their young; they often have twins and always give birth in the winter.
