DESCRIPTION

Females live longer than male lions because they do not sustain injuries from continuous fighting. Females are the primary hunters in every pride. Most of their hunting consists of zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and other large open grassland animals. By hunting in groups, lions can have more than one hunter to help them catch their prey, this is especially useful since some of their prey can run faster then them. They are more social than other big cats and the females will usually do most of the hunting and they usually do it in groups. All the females in a pride are related, and the female cubs usually stay with the group as they age.
